In meeting with you and me stellen sich die klassische indische Choreographin/Tänzerin Dr. Alekhya Punjala und die Contemporary Dance Choreographin/Tänzerin Victoria Hauke den oft und leicht verwendeten Begriffen und erfahren dabei, wie komplex deren wahre Bedeutungen sind.
meeting with you and me ist eine vom Goethe Zentrum Hyderabad und der BKM Hamburg initiierte Begegnung, die die beiden zunächst einander unbekannten Choreographinnen ziemlich herausfordert. In einem 4-wöchigen Arbeitsprozess in Hyderabad entstehen erste Momente der Annäherung, die zunächst durch die gegenseitige Anerkennung von Differenz und der damit einher gehenden gegenseitigen Wissensvermittlung möglich wurden.
Das hier entstandene Performance-Format zeigt, dass eine wichtige Voraussetzung für eine derartige Begegnung, die klare Benennung des eigenen künstlerischen Interesses ist.
Ein Tanzstück entstand, das auf feinsinnige, humorvolle und sinnliche Art zeigt, wie interkulturelle Kommunikation vielleicht aussehen kann.

An encounter between European Contemporary Dance and Classical Indian Dance
Magic words of our time: Globalization, transnationality, intercultural communication. In ‘meeting with you and me’, the classic Indian choreograph/dancer Dr. Alekhya Punjala and the Contemporary Dance choreograph/dancer Victoria Hauke tackle these easily used terms and experience the vast complexity of their true notions. ‘Meeting with you and me’ initiated by the Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad and the BKM Hamburg, is an encounter, which was in the beginning fairly challenging for the two unacquainted choreographers.
Within the four week long working period in Hyderabad, initital moments of approach and confidence occured, as both highly respect the differences between one another and are willing to embrace a reciprocal exchange of knowledge. The performance-format that has emerged from this cooperation shows that the most important condition for such an encounter is a clear definition of one’s ‘own artistic self’ and an eagerness to know and appreciate the other.
A dance piece originated, which humorously, sensually and subtly shows an interpretation of what intercultural communication might look like.
